Measuring Existing Levels
We check the current levels across your site before starting, finding the high and low spots that need work to reach the finished grade you want.
Levelling & Grading
Levels set and ground graded to create working platforms, correct drainage falls and tidy finished surfaces.
Planned properly. Finished tidy.
Uneven ground causes drainage problems, building difficulties and wasted usable space. Our team provides levelling and grading in Auckland to create flat, stable and properly sloped surfaces for houses, sheds, driveways, yards, paddocks and commercial sites.
We use skilled operators, modern machinery and accurate measuring tools to cut, fill and shape the ground to your required levels. Careful grading directs water away from structures, reduces pooling and helps protect foundations and landscaping.
We can also add and compact fill where needed, making sure the surface is solid and ready for construction. From small backyards to large developments, we deliver precise results with minimal disruption. Contact us today for honest advice and a free, no-obligation quote.
We check the current levels across your site before starting, finding the high and low spots that need work to reach the finished grade you want.
From graders to excavators, we use machinery sized to your site to achieve accurate levels and falls, whether it’s a small backyard or a large block.
Our levelling always allows for how water will move, so the finished site drains properly rather than creating new puddles or flooding problems.
Where we can, we balance cut and fill with material already on your property, reducing the need to bring in fill or pay to remove spoil.
Once graded, the surface is compacted to suit its use, whether that’s a lawn, a building platform or something in between.
Your levelled site is ready for landscaping, construction or other development, with firm, properly finished ground underfoot.
Often booked alongside Sewer Line Excavation, Trenching, Trenching for Power/Fibre/Cabling, Culvert Installation and other prep work where access, levels and a tidy handover count. It all sits within our civil and utility works work.
We pick the machine and attachments only once we have looked at access, reach, the ground, how much material is moving and the finish you need.
What applies depends on Auckland Council, your property and the job. Any approvals, beforeUdig locating and site controls need confirming before we start.
What drives the cost
Every site is different. Here is what makes the biggest difference to a levelling & grading quote.
Larger areas take more passes, more machine hours and more labour to level and grade, so the size of the job shapes the overall cost.
A gentle hump is quick to fix. A big drop from one side to the other means moving a lot more material, which raises the price.
Volcanic rock close to the surface or soft areas that won’t compact can slow grading and need extra equipment or work to deal with.
When the grade has to shed water in a set direction, there’s more precise shaping and checking involved, adding to the time on site.
What we bring
Levelling and grading often overlap with drainage and material supply, and we look after all of it in-house. Instead of you coordinating separate grading and drainage contractors, our crew brings the excavators and material needed to achieve accurate levels and proper falls in one process. That means a more efficient job, with one crew responsible for getting your levels right the first time.
What is covered
Levelling seems easy until someone asks where the extra soil goes. The quote settles that first.
Why work with us
Good levelling and grading is what lets everything built afterwards, from lawns to driveways and buildings, work the way it should. We survey the site in detail before starting, picking out the high and low points that need dealing with to reach your finished grade. Machinery sized to the job gives us accurate levels and falls, and drainage is always factored in so the finished site doesn’t create new ponding or flooding.
Wherever we can, we balance cut and fill using material already on site, reducing the need for extra fill or expensive spoil removal. Once the grading is done, the surface is compacted to suit how the area will be used. We’ve levelled and graded a wide range of Auckland properties, and we bring the accuracy and drainage awareness this core earthworks task needs to deliver a site that works properly.
Getting the site ready
Good grading shows up in where the rain ends up. These four tell us what you really need from it.
Clear furniture, vehicles and garden features off the ground being levelled. The machine needs open space to grade efficiently.
Mark irrigation, cables or other shallow services under the surface. Once the topsoil comes off, grading can catch lines that weren’t obvious before.
Point out any set heights or which way you want water to fall, so the finished grade suits your plans and how you’ll use the space.
Grading can be noisy and dusty. A quick word with the neighbours first keeps things easy, particularly beside a shared fence.
Where we work
Levelling and grading is busiest in Auckland’s new subdivisions, where sites need shaping before building can start.
Older suburbs around Auckland keep us busy with grading for landscaping and drainage fixes.
Common questions
We work right across metropolitan Auckland, and regional or rural jobs can be looked at case by case. Include your suburb when you ask for a quote and we’ll confirm whether we can help.
Not always. Simpler jobs can often be priced from plans and photos, but sites with awkward access or a complicated scope are usually worth a visit first.
It depends on Auckland Council’s rules, your property and the scope of the job. Check what applies before anything starts—we can help you work out what to ask the council.
We cover residential, rural, commercial and civil work. Whether a particular job suits us comes down to access, programme, the plant needed and the confirmed scope.
